Today i will share about fire door. The requirements for fire door clearly stated in Uniform Building By Law 1984 (UBBL 1984).
By-Law 141 (2) (b)
An opening in a separating wall which is necessary as a means of escape from fire, if the opening is fitted with a door which has in respect of separating walls FRP (Fire Resistance Period) of not less than that required in this part.
By-Law 162
It stipulates that all opening in compartment and separating walls shall be protected with fire door having a FRP in accordance with the requirements for that wall specified in the Ninth Schedule of UBBL 1984.
By-Law 164 (1)
Stipulates that all fire doors shall be fitted with automatic door closer of the hydraulically spring operated type in the case of swing door and or wire rope and weight type in the case of sliding door.
By-Law 164 (2)
Double door rabbeted meeting stiles shall be provided with coordinating device to ensure that leaf close in proper sequence.
By-Law 173
All exits doors shall be openable from inside without the use of
key or any special knowledge or effort.
By-Law 186 (1)
All doors used by the public as exit doors from any part of the
place of assembly or leading to open air shall open only in the direction of
exit.
By-Law 186 (2)
In a place of assembly all exits doors and doors through which the
public pass on the way to the open air shall be without lock, bolts or other
fastening while the public are in the building.
Based on MS 1073 Part 3 1996 Doorsets - Testing of Fire Resistant,
all fire doors used in buildings shall be tested and passed together with the
designated hardware. Door set means complete set inclusive of door leaf, frame,
vision panel, in tumescent and ironmongeries [ lock set, automatic door closer,
hinges, door selector, flush bolts, weathering strip, etc ]
Application of fire doors
a) Entrance doors to Fire Protected Staircases, passage way and/or
ramps
b) Doors leading into individual fire protected residential
occupancies
c) Entrance door to individual fire protected commercial
occupancies
d) Institutional or assembly building - path of travel to exits
Other special purpose doors
i) Security fire doorset
ii) Armoured attack - resistance fire doorset
iii) Radiation shielding fire doors
iv) Pressure - resistant fire door

I have a question. Did UBBL or Bomba Authority's law to mention Vision Panel Fire Door to use at which area in the mix development building? Or it is subjective/optional to Arch/Client/Designer. Thanks.
